What This Article Covers:

Banana Bread

Banana bread is a loaf traditionally made from mashed bananas and nuts originating from the United States. It’s an excellent way to use up bananas that are getting a bit old and aren’t all that appetizing to eat fresh.

Although it’s called ‘bread,’ it’s moist and sweet, more like a cake.

It’s usually enjoyed as a snack slathered with butter. Because it’s so easy to make, it’s a highly-versatile recipe and can quickly be flavored with chocolate chips, raisins, nuts, and just about whatever you have in your pantry.

That’s where our caramel macchiato comes into it.

Caramel Macchiato

A popular twist on the classic macchiato is the caramel macchiato. This pairing balances out the inherent bitterness of the coffee with sweet, nutty caramel.

Even experienced baristas balk at the idea of making one, so we recommend our caramel-flavored coffee beans to cut out a lot of the fuss. Alternatively, if you’re feeling confident, you can make a regular macchiato and add a splash of homemade caramel syrup to the espresso.

The caramel pairs wonderfully with the rich coffee by adding a sweet undertone to the richness of the espresso.

This combination can do more than just flavor banana bread. If you fancy yourself a baker, try your hand at a macchiato caramel cheesecake or our delicious caramel macchiato cookie recipe.

Caramel Macchiato Banana Bread

Caramel macchiato banana bread is a flavourful combination of caramel and banana, a classic combination, and a creamy Italian macchiato. What could be better?

The caramel and banana combine to provide a lovely sweetness while the espresso in the macchiato adds a rich bitterness which balances the overall flavor well.

This moist, fluffy treat can be enjoyed as a tea-time snack or dessert by the whole family.

What to Look for

The main ingredients in any banana bread are flour, baking soda, baking powder, eggs, bananas, oil, and sugar.

To get that decadent caramel-coffee flavor, we recommend using Lifeboost Coffee’s caramel macchiato coffee beans. It’s the quickest and easiest way to incorporate balanced caramel and coffee notes and, what’s more, they’re significantly healthier for you than the alternative.

You’re also going to want to add a pinch of salt to your drink. Maldon or sea salt is best, but fine table salt will do the trick too. The salt brings out the subtle flavors of the caramel and highlights its savory, nutty notes, making for a more complex drink.

The oil is an essential component as it keeps the batter from drying out. You should use a neutral oil without too much flavor, like peanut, vegetable, or canola oil.

Mashed bananas are obviously a major part of this treat and over-ripe bananas are even better to use as they provide a deeper sweetness to the bread.

Whenever you find a banana in your fruit bowl going a bit too brown, just throw it in the freezer and take it out an hour or two before you plan on baking. That way, you’re never more than a few short hours away from a loaf of delicious banana bread.

Throw in a pinch of cinnamon if you want to add a bit of spice and Christmas festivity to your banana bread.
