Tips For Enjoying Your Favorite Lifeboost Coffee While Traveling
‘Tis the season to be traveling!
When you’re planning and packing for trips throughout the holiday season, giving some thought to what your coffee routine will look like while away from home is something many of us commonly fail to consider.
Then, once you’ve reached your destination and you realize you must now resort to hotel brews, big chain cafe coffee, or your uncle’s “oh bless his heart, he sure tries” cups of incredibly burnt java, you begin wishing, as you do every year, that you’d have included coffee on your travel plan checklist.
The thing is, travel time can really throw our beloved coffee routines for a loop.
In fact, sometimes we don’t fully appreciate our daily coffee rituals until we experience the undesirable side effects of going without them.
And, we’re not just talking about taste and tradition here!
Sure, if you typically use heavy cream in your brew, unwillingly switching to low fat milk is going to produce an entirely different taste and feel.
And, if you’re one of our loyal customers, you know other run of the mill brews don’t hold a candle to your preferred Lifeboost roast or flavored selection.
But, there’s much more at stake than flavor alone when you’re sipping coffee away from home.
Most mass marketed brews can cause stomach distress like pain, nausea, heartburn, and diarrhea.
Then, many coffees contain molds, heavy metals, and other toxins which can cause headaches, added stomach distress, dizziness, anxiety, jitters, and more.
And let’s face it, no one wants their travel plans hindered, or ruined entirely, because of their morning (or all throughout the day) cup of joe!
So, how can you ensure that your daily Lifeboost Coffee fix is accessible throughout your travels?
I’m so glad you asked…
Coffee Routines And Travel Time
If you’re a coffee drinker, you likely have a set morning routine surrounding your daily cup of joe.
For the most part, you might not even have to put much thought into your coffee routine as it’s probably something you do on autopilot at this point.
But, believe it or not, such a ritual is an important part of your day!
Your morning coffee routine allows you to start your day with intention and mindfulness.
And, such an activity serves to boost your energy levels, brain power, and productivity.
Of course, when your coffee routine includes Lifeboost, it also provides your body with a powerful dose of health-boosting nutrition that’s delicious, low acid, organic, and free from harmful chemicals and toxins that are known to cause adverse effects.
When it comes to coffee routines while traveling, however, things can look very different, with those rituals sometimes taking a back seat to schedule changes, travel accommodations, and more.
Traveling is hard enough on your body without the added stress of skipping routines and settling for subpar brews that may or may not have negative effects (such as stomach distress, headaches, dizziness, etc).
So then, how can you enjoy at least some sense of normalcy while away from home, especially when it comes to your daily cup of joe?
It’s true that things can look very different for each and every person when packing up to spend some time away from home - depending on your method of travel, luggage space, where you’ll be staying, and what you’ll have access to while away.
But, it’s entirely possible…and in some cases downright simple…to enjoy your morning (or any time of day) Lifeboost Coffee fix while traveling.
To break things down, we’ll consider a few scenarios, each providing some tips and tricks for you to effortlessly continue sipping your tasty Lifeboost brew even when you’re away from home.
Of course, we understand we won’t be able to pinpoint your exact routine, but we hope you’ll be able to glean some practical pointers you can easily apply to your travel plans!
I’ve Got Luggage Room, And I’m Not Afraid To Use It
If you’re leavin’ on a jet plane, even if you know when you’ll be back again, did you know that you can always pack your Lifeboost coffee, whole bean or ground, in your checked or carry-on luggage?
While the TSA does recommend an organized, clutter-free, carry-on bag, they do allow whole bean and ground coffee (sealed package, whether unopened or opened and resealed) in both checked and carry-on bags.
So, as the title suggests, for those with ample luggage space, let’s see what a travel coffee routine could look like with just a little planning, and a few travel brewing necessities.
**Be sure to check out each section as there will likely be applicable tips nestled throughout the following information.
Lifeboost Whole Bean Coffee
If you’ve got luggage space for beans and a grinder, and if you know your destination will have a brewer you can readily use, consider packing a bag of your favorite Lifeboost whole bean coffee.
On our last vacation, I was able to bring a bag of whole bean coffee, a coffee scoop, an electric grinder (though you could bring a small handheld grinder as well), and a travel tumbler.
With only these items, I was able to measure out the amount of coffee I needed, grind the beans to my liking, then brew a cup of coffee using the hotel coffee machine each morning.
But, if you prefer pre-ground coffee…
Lifeboost Ground Coffee
With a similar scenario to what’s listed above, if you have the luggage space, you could simply pack a bag of pre-ground Lifeboost coffee, a measuring scoop, and a travel tumbler to avoid missing out on your Lifeboost coffee fix while away.
Here, you’d only need a drip brewer, and you’d be set for a hot cup of coffee.
If you don’t know for sure that your destination will have a brewer available for you to use, consider the following:
Aeropress
For both whole bean and pre ground coffee, you can also easily brew your own coffee while traveling with an Aeropress (there are multiple varieties available, some more travel-friendly than others).
An Aeropress is a type of brewer often associated with on-the-go coffee, or traveling, as this brewer is portable and quickly makes a quality cup of coffee.
Many have stated that there is somewhat of a learning curve when using an Aeropress, but once you read the included how-to’s and give it a try at home, prior to using it on the road, you should be good to go when you’re ready to travel.
Clever Dripper
Don’t have a coffee maker, no worries. If you indeed have room to pack it, you could easily add one more item to your list, a pour over maker or a clever dripper.
With this type of travel-friendly brewer, which comes with disposable filters, you can simply grind whole bean coffee or use pre-ground coffee and make a delicious pour over as long as you have a hot water source.
Of course, you’ll want to bring a travel tumbler or mug to sip from as well.
And, if you’d like an even simpler method for making your brew on the go…
Lifeboost Go Bags
Maybe you’ve got all kinds of luggage space, but you simply don’t want to hassle with grinding coffee beans, measuring out your coffee, or going through the hassle of brewing while on the go?
If you can check all of those boxes, then Lifeboost Go Bags are just the thing you need to simplify your travel coffee routine!
Lifeboost Go Bags are prepackaged bags of ground coffee, available in our Dark and Medium Roast Selections, and basically…they work just like a tea bag.
All you need is a mug, access to hot water, and you can enjoy a delicious cup of Lifeboost - anytime, anywhere!
Then, while this may be a little boujee, I have to include it because I’ve done this while traveling, and it proved to be a simple way to enjoy my favorite Lifeboost coffee, brewing method and all…
Lifeboost Cold Brew Packs
I drink cold brew year-round, and a few summers ago, my family and I went away for some long-anticipated beach time.
In line with the theme for this section, I had plenty of luggage space as we drove to our destination.
So, I packed a box of our medium roast cold brew packs and a carefully wrapped/packaged large (64 ounces so I had plenty of room) mason jar with a lid.
When I got to our hotel room, I added one of our pre-ground, pre-measured, ready-to-go cold brew packs to the jar/pitcher, filled it with water, and placed it into the refrigerator.
Then, viola, 24 hours later I removed the pack from the pitcher and had my favorite Lifeboost cold brew to enjoy for the next several days.
I ended up making another pitcher midway through our beach stay and never went without my Lifeboost. I even filled up my Lifeboost travel tumbler with the remaining brew just before we left to return home.
This was a cinch in our hotel room, but I’ve also done this while traveling to stay with family, and it proved to be even simpler there.
One warning here - you might want to pack extra if you’re staying with family, because in my experience, somehow the cold brew disappears around a house full of coffee lovers!
*The same goes for the Lifeboost Go Bags for family and friends who love a good, hot cup of coffee!
What About Add-Ins
Now that we’ve covered the coffee, what if you prefer a little something extra in your brew?
If you have room, consider bringing along a bag of our MitoCreamer which can easily mix into your brew with the aid of a handheld frother - another tiny luggage add-on that can make a big difference for those who take their coffee anything but black.
Short On Time, Space, And Patience
Even if you’ve got patience for days, oftentimes traveling calls for some seriously creative efforts when it comes to packing everything, you’ll need for an upcoming trip.
So, if you’re already competing for space, how can you still enjoy delicious, clean, healthy Lifeboost Coffee while traveling?
As space is our primary issue here, we won’t have as many options to include in our luggage, so we’ll skip the sections and lay out our recommendations all at once now.
Possibly the simplest way to have continued access to Lifeboost Coffee while traveling is by using our Go-Bags!
And, while I realize we already mentioned this option in the section above, I want to go a bit more in detail here…
I’ve been a tea drinker longer than I’ve been a coffee drinker, and while I typically do not use tea bags to brew tea, only opting for loose leaf varieties while at home, there’s no comparison to the convenience of traveling with bagged tea.
I simply pack enough tea bags for my trip, throw in a travel tumbler as these are not only durable but keep my water temps stable for a longer period of time, then fill said tumbler with hot water and add a tea bag to steep when I’m ready to sip.
And I get it. Most of you are probably like…duh…we know how brewing tea with a tea bag works, right?
Well, take that simplicity and apply it to Lifeboost Coffee, because that’s exactly what our Go Bags provide - simplicity, without sacrificing health or flavor!
Our Go Bags are completely recyclable, filled with a pre ground, premeasured amount of coffee, and perfect for one incredibly delicious cup.
All you need is access to hot water, and as with my tea scenario, I highly recommend using a travel tumbler as these will keep your brew hot for a longer period of time.
This option is perfect for camping, hotel stays, driving on the road, flying, and on and on.
Each bag is individually packaged, so you can even stash a single serving in your bag, briefcase, backpack, or carry-on.
Then, if you prefer a chilled brew, you can always brew a cup of Lifeboost Coffee with our Go Bags, then place that brewed cup of joe in the refrigerator to chill for later use.
Or, if you’re like me, completely unable to go without cold brew, you can go all Godfather on your packing endeavors and “leave the gun, take the cannoli.”
What do I mean?
Well, personally, if I’m staying at a hotel or with friends/family, this means I’ll have access to a hair dryer, so it’s a no brainer for me - I leave the hair dryer and take a travel-friendly container or pitcher that I can use to make cold brew while away, using our premeasured, prepackaged Cold Brew Coffee Packs.
Of course, this option likely wouldn’t be best for short trips or times when you’re continually on the road or in the air, but if you’re landing at grandma’s house and won’t be taking off until after the holidays, having cold brew on hand may prove to be highly beneficial.
Recap
For an easy point of reference, and to sum up our coffee routine travel tips today, here’s a condensed travel checklist as well as a few added tips for your favorite coffee add-ins and extras.
When you’re traveling by vehicle or have room to spare in your luggage:
- Consider packing a sealed bag of whole bean or pre ground coffee. If you have a place to brew the coffee, bringing along your preferred Lifeboost selection, a coffee scoop for measuring, and a travel tumbler allows you to continue enjoying the tastes and healthy benefits of your brew while away.
- If you’re packing whole beans, be sure you have room for a grinder as well.
- If you don’t know if you’ll have a brewer, you can also bring along an Aeropress, pour over brewer, or a Clever Dripper to make your brew.
- Of course, don’t forget your Lifeboost Travel Tumbler! It’ll keep your iced coffee cold and your freshly brewed coffee hot for hours!
If you are limited on space or simply don’t want the added hassle of bringing along multiple items pertaining to your coffee routine:
- You can enjoy your favorite Lifeboost Dark or Medium Roast Coffee while away when using our Go Bags. With access to hot water and a mug or travel tumbler (safest and most practical option), you can easily prepare a hot cup of coffee almost anywhere!
- If you’re like me and couldn’t last an entire trip away from home without cold brew coffee, but don’t want the tummy issues that often accompany store bought or cafe cold brew, as long as you have room for a travel-friendly pitcher/container in your luggage you can bring along some of our Cold Brew Packs to easily make cold brew coffee in your hotel room, Air BnB, grandma’s house, etc.
Now for some travel-friendly coffee add-in suggestions:
- If you prefer your coffee with a touch of sweetness, plan to bring along pre packaged, single servings of your favorite sweetener, such as stevia, monk fruit, honey, cane sugar, etc.
- If you need a little creaminess in your coffee, the TSA does allow for travel-sized liquids in carry-ons, but these could potentially create a mess if spilled/punctured.
- This is why many opt for powdered creamers when traveling, such as our MitoCreamer, which adds both a smooth, slightly creamy, touch and a host of health benefits to your brew, such as more energy, boosted brain function and immunity, improved hair, skin, and nail health, etc.
- And personally, I like to travel with a handheld frother. It may be a bit extra, but it takes up very little space in your luggage, and it offers a simple way to blend in any additions you may wish to use in your brew.
Wishing you happy, safe, coffee-filled travels!
