From Warm And Cozy To Festive And Fun, Enjoy 4 Fabulous English Butter Toffee Coffee Recipes

8 min read OCT 25, 2024

No matter the time of year, one bite into a rich, decadent, and practically sinful, piece of English butter toffee floods my heart and mind with the warmest of holiday memories.

If such delights could easily be obtained year-round, I know for certain that fireworks on the fourth of July would offer no veil for my holiday thoughts and remembrances should I breathe in only one brief scent of what my senses know only to be a wintertime masterpiece.

You see, every year before Christmas, my aunt would send tin after tin of this buttery, caramelized, sweet confection.

Upon opening the package, we’d divide the spoils between my grandparents, parents, siblings, and cousins.

Then, as we’d rip through the pretty papered packages, my grandma would make her way to the kitchen.

The excitement shared near the fireplace in my grandparents’ living room always made quite a commotion, so the sounds of the percolator were muffled, but as soon as her lovingly prepared brew was ready, the whole house was filled with the bold aroma of hot, freshly brewed coffee.

Of course, us kids weren’t concerned with the mug contents she was carefully delivering to my grandpa in his recliner.

No, we were too busy devouring piece after piece of toffee…that is until my grandpa would abruptly warn us of the impending potential for a tummy ache from such overindulgence.

I can hear his voice now, deep and strong, echoing with only slightly more volume than the eruption of giggles coming from the cousins’ choir.

It never ceases to amaze me; the level of importance tastes and aromas play in our memories.

My grandparents have been gone for more than 20 years now.

All the cousins have since grown, married, and have families of their own.

Of course, I thoroughly cherish every moment I’m blessed to be near them, but our time spent together now looks a lot different than those moments by my grandparents' fireplace, opening pretty papered packages filled with tins of toffee.

Still, the aroma of freshly prepared coffee coupled with a slow, indulgent bite of English butter toffee…now coupled with the warmth of my preferred brew mingling with each buttery, sweet bite…it vividly takes me back to their house, their living room.

I hear the laughter shared, I can feel the love of my grandparents as if they’re here right in the room with me, even now.

Honestly, our English Butter Toffee Coffee, when it’s brewing, sometimes it brings a tear to my eye. Heck, sometimes I get teary just inhaling a fragrant breath as I open the bag, preparing to pour it into the canister.

So sure, as you can obviously see, I’m definitely the sentimental type. But I’ll never apologize for it. Because these tastes and aromas are fabulous reminders of some of my life’s most incredibly special moments.

And today, as I prepare to share a truly tasty treasure trove of English Butter Toffee Coffee Recipes with you, I hope you also have equally wonderful memories either to recall or make, surrounding warm mugs of this incredibly special brew.

Happy sipping, friends! Enjoy!

4 Fabulous English Butter Toffee Coffee Recipes

1- Tasty Toffee Latte

If you’re like me, you may have discovered that making your own syrups and sauces to use in coffee recipes is much simpler than it sounds.

Sure, the pre-packaged items make things convenient, but there’s just something about making it yourself, right?

For me, the flavors seem to more easily combine with my brew, and frankly, the true, homemade tastes are just unparalleled.

So, you’ll be making a rich, decadent toffee sauce to use in this recipe (or as a topping for your favorite ice cream or cakes), and once you’ve got this tasty treat prepared, you can use it to craft a super simple, and incredibly delicious, latte whenever you’d like!

*Note: When making toffee sauce, heating or cooling too quickly can cause the butter to separate. To avoid this, be sure to stir frequently and warm/cool slowly. The same applies to reheating…go slow and stir frequently.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces freshly brewed Lifeboost English Butter Toffee Coffee
  • 1 teaspoon toffee sauce (see recipe below)
  • 4 ounces whole milk (almond milk would also make a great, nutty, addition to this coffee)

Instructions

  • Add hot, freshly brewed coffee to your favorite mug, then stir in 1 teaspoon toffee sauce.
  • Add milk to an electric frother and froth on the heated setting. (You can also warm the milk and then froth with a handheld frother.)
  • Top coffee with warmed, frothed milk, and enjoy!

Homemade Toffee Sauce

  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup + 1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt flakes (optional)

Add brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla, and butter to a small saucepan.

Heat over medium heat, stirring with a wooden spoon, until the sugar dissolves.

Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 2 minutes. (Be careful when stirring as the sauce gets hot and bubbly.)

If using, add salt flakes, then remove from heat, and allow the sauce to cool.

As it cools the sauce will thicken.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat when using.

2- Buttered Toffee Affogato

While crunchy, sweet toffee is incredibly delicious, I truly think the addition of chocolate to this treat is what takes it over the top.

Combined with hot coffee, this effortlessly melts into a confection that words fail to accurately describe.

So, this coffee treat, or dessert, or decadently divine offering - however you choose to describe it - has become a quick favorite of mine.

Rich, smooth, and creamy chocolate ice cream, warm, bold English Butter Toffee Coffee, a hint of almond liqueur, and an added bit of texture from real toffee pieces…yep, I think I’m going to have to stick with decadently divine when describing this one!

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces strong, freshly brewed Lifeboost English Butter Toffee Coffee
  • ½ cup or a single scoop of chocolate ice cream
  • 1-2 teaspoons almond liqueur
  • Whipped cream, optional for topping
  • Toffee pieces, optional for topping

Instructions

  • Add ice cream to a large mug, then pour freshly brewed coffee over the ice cream.
  • Top with 1-2 teaspoons of almond liqueur, whipped cream, and toffee pieces, and enjoy (by spoon or sip)!

3- Hug In A Mug

You can make this treat hot or iced, but I must say, enjoying it hot feels like nothing less than a warm hug in a mug…thus the name, of course!

It is a bit sweet, so if you’re wanting more of a daily savoring, minus the extra sugar, I would suggest leaving out the caramel sauce, reserving it for those days when you want a little something extra.

Of course, if sweetness is your jam, you’ll get no judgments here!

Ingredients

    • 8 ounces freshly brewed (or cold brewed for iced) Lifeboost English Butter Toffee Coffee
    • 6 ounces milk
    • ¾ tablespoon caramel sauce, plus extra for topping, if desired
    • 1 ½ tablespoons toffee nut syrup (see recipe below)
    • Whipped cream, for topping

Instructions

For hot:

      • Add milk to a small saucepan and warm on medium-low heat until hot (watch closely and stir frequently so the milk does not scorch).
      • Pour freshly brewed coffee into a large mug, add in warmed milk, caramel sauce, and toffee nut syrup, stirring to combine.
      • Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired, and enjoy!

For iced:

      • Drizzle caramel sauce around the inside of a tall glass.
      • Fill the glass with ice, then add cold brew, milk, and toffee nut syrup, stirring to combine.
      • Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired, and enjoy!

Homemade Toffee Nut Syrup

      • 1 cup water
      • 1 cup brown sugar
      • 1 cup toffee bits

Add water, sugar, and toffee bits to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring frequently.

Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 7 minutes, or until most of the toffee has melted.

Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool for 10-15 minutes before straining any remaining toffee pieces from the mixture.

Transfer to a glass jar and store, airtight, in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

*You can use homemade toffee pieces in this as opposed to store bought.

4- Boozy Buttered Toffee Coffee

Lastly, we also wanted to include a delicious coffee cocktail in this lineup, and what could be more sophisticated and sweeter, more decadent and delightful, than an English butter toffee coffee cocktail!

Whether you’re looking for a tasty addition to a quiet evening or a fun offering to wow party guests, this cocktail is sure to be a hit!

Ingredients

      • 4 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost English Butter Toffee Coffee
      • 1 ounce Kahlua
      • 1 ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
      • 1 ounce amaretto
      • 2 ounces half and half
      • Toffee bits, optional for garnish
      • Ice

Instructions

      • Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice, then add cold brew, Kahlua, Bailey’s, amaretto, and half and half.
      • Shake the mixture vigorously for roughly 30 seconds, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass, with ice.
      • Garnish with toffee bits, if desired, and enjoy!

*If serving a large number of guests, you can adjust the measurements to your liking (doubling, tripling, etc.), then instead of mixing in a cocktail shaker, simply combine all of the ingredients (minus ice) in a large jar, or container, and stir together to combine. Store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve over ice.
