A staple in cafes and coffee shops…

Smooth, creamy, seemingly sweet, custard-like, rich, and velvety…
What flavor could possibly boast such extraordinary tastes, popularity, and unparalleled richness?
French vanilla!
Of course, French vanilla is no ordinary vanilla, and today we’re not only going to differentiate between these tastes, but we’re also going to load you up on some fantastically delicious recipes to pair with our French Vanilla Coffees.
That’s right…coffees, plural!
Oh wait, you didn’t know.
Yes, Lifeboost has more than one French Vanilla brew.
Our traditional French Vanilla Coffee brings you phenomenal, rich, custard-like, creamy vanilla flavors from baking extracts and essential oils, infused into our beloved medium roast - single origin, shade and elevation grown, organic, Arabica coffee beans, third party tested for molds, toxins, heavy metals, and 400+ other toxins.
And, our equally clean French Vanilla Cognition Coffee brings you these same exceptional flavors, infused into our same beloved medium roasted beans with a noticeable boost - benefits reaped from the addition of Lion’s Mane and Chaga mushroom extracts, a powerful blend delivering potent support for brain and immune function without compromising flavor.
So, without further ado, let’s dive into this delicious flavor…
French Vanilla - Fancy Name Or Flavorful Brew?

Vanilla, French vanilla, vanilla bean…what’s the difference?
When it comes to differentiating vanillas, believe it or not, ice cream holds a distinctive key for deciphering.
It’s not uncommon for folks to think of French vanilla/; as a flavor that simply describes the location where the vanilla beans used in this flavor’s making are grown, but in the case of this rich and velvety taste, the term French has little to do with, well, France.
Instead, the term French vanilla refers to the method for making this creamy, decadent flavor.
True vanilla flavor comes from the vanilla bean.
In the case of vanilla bean ice cream, those tiny dark specks suspended in this cool and creamy dessert are actually the seeds from the vanilla bean pod.
Then, in basic vanilla flavors (ice cream and otherwise) this taste is crafted essentially by using vanilla extract, a flavor which comes from making a type of tincture where vanilla beans are soaked in a mixture of alcohol and water.
These additions serve to extract the flavor compounds in the vanilla pods, creating a concentration we commonly use to enhance drinks, baked goods, ice cream, and more.
But, when it comes to French vanilla, this flavor is more complex.
You’ve likely noticed French vanilla ice cream to have a rich, near-yellow hue, a characteristic which stems from the additions of egg yolks, a needed ingredient in this custard-like dessert.
But, what does this mean in terms of coffee?
The addition of vanilla extract (pure, of course, no imitation here) in coffee already provides a seemingly sweet, velvety smooth enhancement to your brew, but French vanilla flavors infuse an unparalleled upgrade…
Just as French vanilla ice cream is thicker, creamier, richer, and classically more decadent due to the addition of egg yolks, yielding a custard base as opposed to a sweetened milk base, French vanilla coffee likewise possesses a deeper, even extraordinary, flavor.
Think you’re getting a hint of caramel in your French vanilla flavored cup?
Pondering whether or not you’re tasting a bit of hazelnut?
Wondering if your brew actually has a touch of sugar?
Each of these questions commonly come to mind when sipping French Vanilla coffee due to the uniqueness and rich depth of this flavor profile.
Not to worry though, in the case of Lifeboost French Vanilla Coffee, there’s no added or hidden sugars used to create this taste.
Instead, what you’re sipping is the pure infusion of real flavor in baking extracts and essential oils.
Why does this matter?
Because vanilla is more than just an incredible, brew-enhancing flavor!
- The aroma of vanilla alone can serve to calm your mood, even providing a balance to the stimulating effects of caffeinated coffee.
- Vanilla provides sweetness without sugar.
- Some French vanilla flavored coffees contain added sugar to achieve the rich notes of this custard-like taste, but when you’re using real vanilla, the flavor compound vanillin becomes the star, here creating a perception of sweetness which masks coffee’s inherent bitterness while enhancing the overall flavor of your brew.
- Pure vanilla extract also contains powerful antioxidants which benefit your body by combating the damage caused by free radicals. As many of you know, coffee is also a potent source of antioxidants, so the combination of coffee and pure vanilla can serve your body in even greater ways.
Of course, when you craft decadently delicious coffee recipes aimed at highlighting the velvety richness of vanilla, you create an opportunity to amplify these benefits with added hints of this fabulous flavor!
So, let’s move into the kitchen now and do just that…
Fabulous French Vanilla Coffee Recipes

Lifeboost French Vanilla Cognition Coffee varies from our classic French Vanilla Coffee due to the addition of Lion’s Mane and Chaga mushroom extracts.
These extracts are potent, providing added support for your brain as well as your immune system.
Many Lifeboosters enjoy this coffee as a morning brain-boost, noting its ability to enhance morning mind tasks, and more.
Both coffees begin with our single origin, specialty, sustainably grown, 3rd party tested medium roasted beans, and both coffees are infused with real baking extracts and essential oils to provide the rich, seemingly custard-like, velvety vanilla flavor we all know and love.
The recipes listed below can be made using either of these coffees, so feel free to grab two bags, one of each, and try them all.
Just be sure to let us know your favorite!
1- French Vanilla Cappuccino

Hmmm, that title sounds eerily similar to my college days, a time when cappuccinos came powdered, in a can, loaded with sugar, silently screaming for a better alternative.
And thankfully, the alternative to this scam, I mean can, has arrived!
Okay, it clearly arrived decades ago, but you get the point.
This cup brings the classic cappuccino foam, here topping silky French vanilla coffee, enhanced with the addition of rich French vanilla syrup and a touch of nutmeg to draw out the creamy, sweet notes of the vanilla, while also creating a warm, spicy depth.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces very strongly brewed Lifeboost French Vanilla Coffee or Lifeboost French Vanilla Cognition Coffee
- 2 teaspoons French vanilla coffee syrup (see recipe below)
- 4 ounces steamed milk
Instructions
- Add freshly brewed coffee (a French press works well for making strong brewed coffee) to a mug, then stir in French vanilla syrup.
- Steam milk using the wand of an espresso machine or add milk to an electric frother and froth on the heated setting.
- Top coffee with steamed or warmed and frothed milk and enjoy!
Homemade French Vanilla Syrup
- 1 ½ cups filtered water
- 1 cup cane sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 vanilla bean pod, split down the middle
- ½ tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Add water, sugars, and vanilla bean pod to a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
Bring to a boil, stirring frequently to allow sugars to fully dissolve.
Reduce to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
Allow to simmer for 5-8 minutes, then remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla extract, then allow the mixture to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container in the refrigerator (keeps for up to two weeks).
2- Vanilla Caramel Latte

Warm, sweet, and smooth, just what a cold day calls for!
The winter months can seem to drag on, often void of sunshine and filled with dreary scenes that make us long for sun and warmth.
And, while this cup doesn’t bring the sunshine, it’s indeed a treat.
Mmmmm, a warm, sweet cup pairing the custard-like flavors of French vanilla with a close cousin - sweet, gooey caramel!
Ingredients (serves 2)
- 12 ounces strongly brewed Lifeboost French Vanilla Coffee or Lifeboost French Vanilla Cognition Coffee
- ½ tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- ¼ cup caramel sauce
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- ⅛ teaspoon sea salt
- Whipped cream, optional for topping
Instructions
- Add heavy cream, caramel sauce, and vanilla to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture begins to simmer. Do not boil.
- Remove from heat, whisk in salt.
- Divide coffee between two mugs, then top with the caramel-vanilla mixture in each mug.
- Top with whipped cream, if desired, and enjoy!
3- The Brain Booster

While you can certainly enjoy this selection with our traditional French Vanilla flavored coffee selection, we’re really leaning into our Cognition Coffee in this recipe, adding brain-health boosting ingredients like avocado, cinnamon, cocoa powder, and more!
- Healthy fats in the avocado support the health of your brain cells and improve blood flow.
- Cocoa powder can improve blood flow to best allow a healthy supply of nutrients to reach and benefit your brain, providing improvements in memory attention, and brain ‘speed.’
- Cinnamon also offers brain benefits as it has neuroprotective properties and may boost cognitive function, memory, and more.
- Coffee alone serves your brain well, improving alertness, memory, and even protecting against Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost French Vanilla Cognition Coffee
- 8-12 ounces milk
- 1 frozen avocado, cut into chunks
- ½ banana, frozen/sliced
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!
4- Sweet Vanilla Treat

Sometimes you want all the health benefits of coffee, even a cognition enhancing coffee, and sometimes you want a rich, creamy dessert-like treat.
But, who says you can’t have both?
This frappe combines the velvety smoothness of our French Vanilla Coffee (Cognition or traditional, your choice) with the added creaminess of milk, heavy cream, and of course a whipped cream topping.
Perfect for a hot day, or if you’re like my college-aged daughter, equally great for a stroll around town or campus in temps below freezing!
Tell me, are you team frozen coffees for summer only, or do you equally enjoy icy brews on blustery winter days?
Either way, this one’s a keeper!
*Note: For a stronger coffee flavor, I like to use cold brew concentrate in this one.
Ingredients
- 4 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost French Vanilla Coffee or Lifeboost French Vanilla Cognition Coffee
- 1 tablespoon French Vanilla Coffee syrup (see recipe in #1 above), divided
- ½ cup whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream, divided
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Add ¼ cup heavy cream and 1 teaspoon French vanilla coffee syrup to a chilled bowl and mix with a hand mixer (or whisk) until soft peaks form. Set aside.
- Add ice, cold brew, milk, ¼ cup heavy cream, and 2 teaspoons French vanilla coffee syrup to a blender and blend on high until smooth.
- Pour mixture into a tall glass, top with French vanilla whipped cream, and enjoy!
5- Have Cold Brew, Will Foam

Is it even possible to drink cold brewed coffee now without the addition of cold foam?
Of course it is, but why would you want to do such a thing?!
Okay, clearly I’m a little biased when it comes to cold foam, but I’ve yet to find a cup of cold brew that wasn’t immediately transformed from ordinary to over the top with the addition of this creamy, pillowy, cloud-like foam.
And here, once again, you can use this velvety, rich addition to enhance both our traditional French Vanilla Coffee or our brain-boosting, immune-supporting French Vanilla Cognition Coffee.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost French Vanilla Coffee or Lifeboost French Vanilla Cognition Coffee
- 3 tablespoons chilled/cold heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 tablespoon French vanilla syrup (see recipe in #1 above), divided
Instructions
- Add ice to a tall glass, then top with cold brew. Stir in 1 teaspoon of French vanilla syrup, then set aside.
- Add heavy cream, milk, and 2 teaspoons of French vanilla syrup to a small glass. Froth using a handheld frother until smooth and creamy (this will increase the volume as well).
- Top cold brew with vanilla cold foam and enjoy!
6- Bonus: French Vanilla Coffee Creamer Recipe

Why are coffee creamers so popular?
Two words - flavor and ease.
Adding only a splash of this thick and tasty liquid can transform your cup in no time.
And, vanilla flavored creamers top the list when it comes to the world’s most preferred coffee add-ins.
Unfortunately, most store bought creamers are filled with hydrogenated oils, artificial sweeteners, gums, and other emulsifiers, each of which has been linked to gut disruptions, digestive issues, inflammation, and more.
Ugh, right?!
But, adding a French vanilla coffee creamer to French vanilla flavored coffee can serve to enhance those infused flavors beautifully…so, what’s a coffee lover to do?
Make a delicious, clean, homemade coffee creamer, that’s what!
This one’s smooth, creamy, rich in flavor, and it’s homemade from start to finish, even incorporating from-scratch sweetened condensed milk.
Yum!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups milk (you can use dairy or non-dairy)
- 10 oz sweetened condensed milk (see recipe below)
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 vanilla pod, sliced in half and seeds scraped out
Instructions
- Add milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla pod, and seeds to a medium saucepan and heat over medium-low heat, whisking together until combined.
- As soon as the mixture begins to simmer, remove from heat and add in the vanilla extract.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 6-7 days.
Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 2 cups milk (your choice, dairy or non-dairy)
- ¾ cup cane sugar (you can also use honey or pure maple syrup)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Whisk together milk and your choice of sweetener/sugar in a medium saucepan.
Heat over medium-low heat, whisking frequently, bringing the mixture to a low simmer.
Continue to simmer, whisking often, until the milk mixture has reduced by half. (This can take around 30 minutes.)
Once reduced, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
Allow to cool completely, then store in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator until ready to use (keeps up to 1 week).
