What are your fondest memories of the fourth?
Before you answer that question, I want to point out that many of you, if not most of you, likely…immediately…thought of the 4th of July.
Every month has a ‘fourth’ but only one month holds a place for memorable gatherings, cook-outs, pool fun, summer sun, fireworks, parades, and all things red, white, and blue on this day!
Many folks begin pulling out their red, white, and blue themed items as soon as summer begins, anticipating an entire season of fun, those colors seeming to signify the ushering in of many sunny celebrations - gatherings which often reach a summertime pinnacle on the 4th.
From clothing and decor, to desserts, drinks, and more, you’ll find touches of this colorful trio all across America throughout the summer, but especially on this fun-filled July day.
And today, we’re here to bring you a few brews fit for such an occasion - red, white, and blue brews you can sip as you prepare for the day’s festivities then share with friends and family as you enjoy the day together!
Festive Fourth Of July Brews

Coffee may not seem like an appropriately colored companion for red, white, and blue themed drinks, but there are a few ways you can make this happen…because nobody puts coffee in a corner, especially not on the 4th of July!
Possibly the best way to accomplish this is by incorporating berries in your brew recipes.
And, I’ll admit, the first time I thought about adding berries to coffee, I was skeptical. But, let me tell you, if you haven’t given this combination a try, you’re truly missing out.
In fact, the combination of coffee and berries is so yummy, we have multiple flavored coffee selections that highlight such infusions - Lifeboost Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee, Lifeboost Cinnamon Blueberry Crumble Coffee, Lifeboost Midnight Blueberry Mocha Coffee, and Lifeboost Patriot Coffee to name a few.
Spoiler Alert: Feel free to sub any of these in the recipes below because those berry highlights will fit perfectly!
In an effort to understand why these flavors indeed pair so well together, I searched the web for answers, and other than a few nods indicating that some roasts pair well with fruit as this echoes the natural acidity of coffee (1), I’ve got nothing.
Still, the combo works, and it works well…which is great news for anyone seeking a festive red, white, and blue brew to add to their 4th of July menu!
Of course, if you’re not a berry fan, infused in coffee or otherwise, you can also easily fulfill the desire to add some festive flair to your brew using colorful sugar sprinkles, blue spirulina powder (no worries, it won’t affect the taste of your brew), or dried fruit powders for garnish.
Below, you’ll find brews which incorporate each of these methods of infusing red, white, and blue in your 4th of July brews!
1- America The Brew-tiful

Let’s begin with the berry infusion option, because frankly, this one has my heart!
It’s a recipe from our foam toppers ebook, and I serve it every year at our 4th of July celebration.
Adults can’t get enough of it, and you’ll have to keep the kids out of the blueberry syrup (2) and blueberry cream foam topping or you won’t have any left to enjoy as you sip your brew!
Originally, this one didn’t include the white chocolate shavings or the raspberry garnish, but not only do these additions highlight the flavors in our Patriot Coffee, but they also give it that extra red, white, and blue flare that wonderfully adds to your 4th of July festivities.
A yummy note - You can certainly substitute any of our classic roast coffees (light, medium, or dark) in place of our Patriot Coffee in this one, but if you’ve not tried this selection, it’s irresistibly delicious, brimming with flavors of fresh raspberries picked in Central Ohio, blueberries harvested from the Lake Erie Coast, and decadent Belgian white chocolate.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Patriot Coffee
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons, plus 2 teaspoons blueberry syrup, see recipe below
- Ice
- A few fresh raspberries, for garnish
- White chocolate shavings, for garnish
Instructions
- Add ice to a tall glass, then top with 2 tablespoons of blueberry syrup and cold brewed coffee, stirring slightly to combine.
- Add heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of blueberry syrup to an electric frother and froth on the cold setting. *If you don’t have an electric frother, you can combine these in a chilled bowl and mix with a hand mixer until soft peaks form.
- Top the cold brew mixture with a decent sized layer of blueberry foam, then drizzle 2 teaspoons of blueberry syrup on top, followed by a sprinkle of white chocolate shavings.
- Place a few raspberries on the rim of the glass for another pop of color, and enjoy your delicious, fun, and festive brew!
Homemade Blueberry Syrup
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
Place blueberries and water in a blender, and blend until completely liquified.
Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer over a small saucepan, pressing the juice through the strainer.
Discard any remaining pulp from the strainer, then add sugar to the blueberry puree in the saucepan.
Heat over medium heat, stirring to combine.
Simmer for approximately 5 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure sugar is completely dissolved.
Cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
2- The Sparkler

Cute confession - when I was a kid, I used to be confused and disappointed on the 4th of July when fireworks would burst into a display of any color other than red, white, or blue.
So, one year we somehow came across sparklers which depicted these colors, and boy oh boy was I in 4th of July heaven!
Unfortunately, I’ve not found sparklers this festive since.
And, I must confess yet again, as an adult, I’m still a little disappointed when all of the fireworks aren’t bursting forth in a display of red, white, and blue colors alone.
Yes, I’m a big fan of festive colors on the 4th.
And, that’s why this appropriately colored foam topped brew brings me back to those rare sparklers I enjoyed as a child, with its brightly hued dustings of red and blue set against a backdrop of pure white foam.
Even better, these Americana hues give way to bold and delicious Lifeboost coffee cold brew resting beneath.
And, if that doesn’t make this one a winner already, here’s the best part - you can make so many swaps here, customizing to your heart’s content.
So, be sure to check out the notes below this recipe for some classic red, white, and blue customizations.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Medium Roast Coffee
- 2 ounces milk
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons powdered sugar
- Ice
- Freeze dried strawberries, for garnish
- Blue spirulina powder, for garnish
Instructions
- Add a small handful of freeze-dried strawberries to a blender or food processor and blend/pulverize until a fine dust forms. Set aside.
- Add ice to a tall glass, then top with cold brew and milk, stirring to combine.
- Add heavy cream and powdered sugar to an electric frother and froth on the cold setting. (Using the electric frother on the cold setting allows the heavy cream to thicken without whipping it, making it a perfectly thick and creamy topper that’s stable enough to hold powder garnishes.)
- Top cold brew with frothed, sweetened heavy cream.
- Add freeze dried strawberry powder to a tea infuser ball or a small sieve, cover one side of the foam topped cold brew with paper, and lightly dust the uncovered side/half with the red powder by gently tapping on the sieve or infuser ball.
- Remove the remaining powder from the infuser/sieve and add the blue spirulina powder.
- Now, cover the freshly dusted “red” side of the foam with paper, and lightly dust the remaining side with the blue spirulina powder. (The blue spirulina powder should not alter the taste of the coffee since you’re only using a very small amount.)
- Enjoy your red, white, and blue topped cold brew!
Notes:
Make this a berry vanilla cold brew by using Lifeboost French Vanilla Coffee as your cold brew base. Then, add ¼ teaspoon of the freeze-dried strawberry powder to the cold brew and milk mixture, stirring to combine. Top as listed in the recipe instructions above.
Don’t have freeze dried berries or spirulina powder? You can also top this with red and blue colored decorating sugar. Simply follow the same instructions listed in the recipe above, instead topping the cold foam by sprinkling each colored sugar by hand - one half blue and one-half red.
Feel free to sub Lifeboost Patriot Coffee for the medium roast in the recipe above and amplify those flavors by using freeze dried raspberry powder and freeze-dried blueberry powder in place of the freeze-dried strawberry powder and blue spirulina.
Get creative with this one! Especially if you’re opting for colored decorating sugar, you can easily swap your favorite Lifeboost brew, classic or flavored, then top with the slightly sweetened white cold foam followed by those red and blue festive hues.
3- Crimson Berry Bliss
