If you’re looking for a delicious and refreshing treat, then an iced vanilla breve latte might be just the thing for you.

So what is a breve latte? It’s a coffee beverage that uses half and half instead of milk. This is the key difference between a breve vs a latte.

Using half and half results in a rich and decadent coffee beverage that can be enjoyed hot or iced.

What’s A Breve Latte

A breve latte is an American beverage that‘s a variation of the cafe latte. Rather than using steamed milk, the breve uses steamed half-and-half.

This means that it’s made with a rich mixture of half whole milk and half cream.

A breve consists of one part espresso and two parts half and half. You end up with an unbelievably smooth and creamy cup of coffee.

While a breve latte is delicious, it won’t be for those who prefer a strong, coffee-forward flavor. For the same reason, a breve is great for someone who wants to drink coffee but can finds the flavor overpowering.

How To Make An Iced Vanilla Breve Latte

Making an iced vanilla breve latte is easier than you might think. So how do you make a breve latte?

Half And Half

What separates a breve from other coffee beverages is that it uses half and half, which combines milk with cream. This gives it a greater richness.

You can buy half and half at the store, or you can make it yourself by combining equal parts whole milk and fresh cream.

Selecting Your Beans

As with any espresso-based drink, selecting the right beans is one of the most important steps to make a good beverage. For espresso, you want dark roast beans. This is because espresso is a concentrated coffee that demands a bold taste.

However, if you don’t have an espresso maker, you can recreate this drink using a french press or a filter machine. You want to make a very strong coffee as the base for this drink.

Making Your Iced Vanilla Breve Latte

Once you’ve made your coffee, we start putting the drink together. Because this is an iced breve latte, you’ll want to let your coffee cool down to room temperature (unless you’ve made cold brew).

For a true fancy coffee experience, swirl vanilla syrup around the inside of your glass before you add your ingredients.

Pour your espresso into the glass and then add ice and 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavored coffee syrup (or more, if you have a real sweet tooth). Then add around 2 oz of half and half, adjusting to your preferences.

This iced beverage is a sure winner in summer.

Variations

One of the easiest variations would be to use Lifeboost’s Organic Decaf Coffee, for a drink with all of the great taste and none of the caffeine.

In this recipe, we’ve used vanilla syrup, but you could also swap this out for your favorite flavored syrup, like hazelnut or caramel.

You could even combine flavors by using different flavored beans with a vanilla coffee syrup.

We’ve also used regular syrup, but for a lower-calorie, skinny iced vanilla breve latte, sub this for sugar-free syrup.

You can even make a dairy-free version, using a dairy-free half and half, or making your own with plant-based milk and cream.

If this all sounds delicious, but coffee isn’t your thing, look into a chai tea latte with breve. You get all of the richness without the espresso.

Breve vs mocha vs latte: it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the huge range of coffee drinks available. But now at least you know the difference between a breve and a latte. And a mocha is a latte flavored with chocolate. Learning about coffee is really a delight.
