How They Start Their Mornings: Top Doctors And Health Experts Discuss Their Morning Rituals And Coffee Habits
How do you spend your mornings?
Do you mindlessly roll out of bed at the beckoning of your alarm clock, only to drudge through the next moments without aim or purpose?
Or, do you have a plan, a routine, a morning ritual?
From health to happiness, to daily productivity and lasting success, it is said that the first minutes of your day are the most important.
In the first moments of your day:
- What you think about...matters.
- Who you spend time with...matters.
- What you do...matters.
- What you put into your body...matters.
Having a healthy morning ritual is said to promote productivity, feelings of calm and confidence, and can even boost your overall health!
Think about it, what you do in those first morning minutes sets the tone for your entire day!
- Practicing mindfulness and incorporating gratitude and affirmations each morning can bring joy and peace into your day and can even reprogram your mind towards success.
- Focusing on your loved ones (including pets) and the many blessings in your life first thing in the morning can keep your priorities aligned in the midst of an otherwise chaotic schedule.
- Even something as simple as your cup of coffee can be a critical part of setting your morning, and thus your whole day, off on the right foot.
Drinking clean, healthy, antioxidant-rich, mycotoxin-free coffee is an excellent place to begin when you want to start your day with your health in mind.
And, you can even take it one step further and boost your health by enhancing your brew with superfoods like MCT oil, raw honey, mushroom powders, hemp seeds, and more, making your coffee and such brew enhancers the first of many healthy choices throughout your day!
I asked a few top health and wellness experts how THEY begin their day, boosting their health: body, mind, and spirit.
What is your morning ritual and how do you drink your coffee?
As soon as I wake up, I spend a couple minutes loving on my two pups, Bruno and Paisley. It’s amazing how much joy having a pet brings, especially as you get older. I think there is an extra understanding and appreciation that you acquire as you age for animals.
Next, I listen to a few chapters on my Bible app and then write down 3 different things I’m grateful for.
I’ll then drink a kombucha or greens powder and then right around 10 am every day, I’ll create my Lifeboost Latte which is:
Lifeboost Coffee cold brewed, (Right now I’m using Biotics Brew) I typically rotate flavors or roasts weekly.
I put my coffee in the blender, and add 1 scoop of Lifeboost Fuel, Anti-Aging Creamer
or if I don't have any, I use grass fed collagen and C8 MCT oil.
Blend it for about 10 seconds. (When adding fat to coffee such as LB Fuel or MCT oil its best to throw in a blender to emulsify the fat particles. This blends them properly so you don't have a layer of oil sitting on top of coffee.)
Pour into my mug and add some organic heavy whipping cream for the immune properties and extra creaminess. Cream doesn't have lactose, so it doesn't bother your stomach or digestion.

What is your morning ritual and how do you drink your coffee?
So for me, my morning ritual has been fairly consistent for a long time.
I wake up around 5:15 and go through a 5-minute meditation. I enjoy getting up early because it is the time of day I am free of any distractions.
After that, I pull my cold-brew coffee out of the fridge, and enjoy that black. I think cold-brewing brings the best flavor out of coffee. When it's warm, I might add some ice, but that's about it!
I spend about an hour catching up on emails, going through the most time-sensitive projects, and getting my schedule in order for the day. Then it's off for the day's workout. After that, I hit the shower, and get started with my day.

What is your morning ritual and how do you drink your coffee?
As a kid, seeing an adult clutching a cup of coffee felt like the universal signal for having endlessly important things to do. It meant hustle, places to go, people to see.
These days, coffee has become something very different for me: a way to start my morning with mindfulness.
Preparing it is the first thing I do after slipping out of bed in the morning. My phone stays off. My planner stays closed. I go into the quiet kitchen, grind fresh coffee beans, and boil water for our French press. I used to love the efficiency of a cheap coffee maker with a timer, but now I relish in deliberately taking my time - and how much better coffee with a little bit of effort put into the process tastes.
With a mug of fresh coffee ready, I froth cashew milk, sprinkling in some collagen and inositol powder to start my blood sugar on the right foot.
I take my mug to the couch, and for 10 tranquil minutes I just sit and enjoy. That’s it. It’s probably the calmest part of my day. Before giving myself over to the demands of the day and peaking a look at my to-do list, making a deliberately crafted cup of coffee has become my first mindfulness ritual each morning, something I intentionally prioritize to remind myself how I want to set the pace for the rest of my day.
It also feels good knowing I’m starting my day with an organic, well-sourced coffee that won’t upset my stomach. Being picky with my choices first thing in the morning sets a good precedent for the rest of my day.

What is your morning ritual and how do you drink your coffee?
Since I heard about and started buying your coffee, I have not bought anything else (coffee-wise). I can taste and feel the difference. I have already spent significant money buying your coffee and I intend to continue. I savor it more, too. When I get bigger shipments, I often gift family and friends with a bag or two. I am a practicing physician and I strive to find the cleanest foods and I distill and filter all the water I drink.
My morning ritual varies, but I do French press, I keep the water just below boiling when I brew, first sip is black, and then I add my non dairy creamer mix (currently oat milk mixed with Rebbl Golden Milk, coconut-based.) I have been experimenting with various creamers, including soy and almond, and this mix is my favorite.

I wake up and oil pull to detoxify my mouth with coconut oil and while oil pulling, I go outside and ground my body by going barefoot on my front lawn and I pray and worship while I stretch my hamstrings and hips and do some yoga poses.
I do this for 10-15 minutes and then spit out the coconut oil and go inside and drink water and take morning supplements.
I then drink 2 cups of non-caffeinated herbal tea while I get started with my work day and about 2 hours after waking, I have a cup of Lifeboost coffee with a scoop of magnesium in it, a sprinkle of salt and 1 tsp of my C8 MCT oil - Keto Brain.

What is your morning ritual and how do you drink your coffee?
My ritual is to get up at 4:00 a.m.
Put the Lifeboost Coffee pot on (generally Hazelnut or Southern Pecan but I like to try different flavors, e.g. Cherry Mocha Truffles).
I then get my notepad and pen and put by my comfortable chair by the fire.
Pour my first cup of coffee (generally at least 2 before my wife wakes up) and go over my goals, things to do, and do some thinking.
I sometimes put MCT oil in my coffee but generally black.
When my wife wakes up, I bring her a cup of Lifeboost coffee. She likes MCT Oil and Organic Half and Half with hers.

What is your morning ritual and how do you drink your coffee?
My morning ritual is to make a slow-brewed batch of French pressed Lifeboost medium roast coffee, served hot, nearly daily.
I drink my coffee 2 different ways: I’ve recently been savoring my Lifeboost with a hefty splash of organic A2/A2 heavy whipping cream, plus or minus a swirl of collagen.
Before that, I was an exceedingly long-term semi-sedentary, semi-athletic mom following an intermittent fasting protocol with near-daily bulletproof style coffees for 8 years!!!
This one here is my current, most indulgent and elaborate favorite:
Another tasty recipe:
- 12-16oz brewed Lifeboost alkaline coffee
- Hemp seeds!! (4-8 Tbsp)
- Collagen powder or vegan Vega Protein (1-2 servings)
- A dash of pink Himalayan salt
- Optional: Sweetener of choice
- Optional: 1-2 scoops Goat mineral whey
Blend in Vitamix on setting speed 7 out of 10, for about 20 seconds.
Enjoy!!!

Wake up at 5:45, check on the family still asleep. Make my way down the hall to my Breville espresso machine which turns on preheat at 5:30.
Grind two shots of fresh espresso and hit start, open the fridge to grab organic heavy whipping cream to pour into a clear glass coffee mug, by now the espresso is ready to form union with the heavy whipping cream.
My morning coffee and I then head to the living room to set in an antique wood rocking chair looking out a sliding glass door with a view of the lake and trees.
There I sip my coffee slowly while balancing my thoughts to set the energy for a creative authentic day.

How We Drink Our Coffee
We enjoy making almond milk lattes, sweetened with vanilla liquid stevia that are powered by essential oils. Our favorite latte are recipes on our blog and include peppermint essential oil, because this ancient remedy not only adds a wonderful flavor burst that blends well with Lifeboost Coffee, but it contains well known health benefits including promoting healthy gut function, pain relief and relieving allergies.
