25 Positive Affirmations and How It Will CHANGE Your Life
Have you heard of the Cherokee story of the two wolves?
In this story an elder teaches his grandson of the two wolves that are at war within each individual. (The eternal conflict of good and evil within a person.) The young boy asks his elder, “which of the two wolves wins this war?” The elder replies: “The one you feed.”
While the meaning of this story centers around good and evil, can you see it’s implication in other areas of life?
Consider positive vs. negative thinking. Are we not also at war daily with a pull between these two?
Studies show that an astonishing 80% of self-talk is negative. So, more than three quarters of our internal dialogue is critical. Naturally, we are feeding the “wolf” of negative thinking.
Most of us would not talk down to our loved ones. And, we would never stand for hearing criticism after criticism of our children, parents, friends, or spouse. But, we’re habitual offenders to our own selves.
As you can see, there is a real need for us to feed the right “wolf” when it comes to our thought life. Enter, affirmations.
What are affirmations?
Affirmations, simply put, are positive phrases or sentences that, when repeated, can oppose bleak or pessimistic thoughts.
Our thought processes are a big factor in our happiness and our potential for achievement.
Negative thoughts can keep us from success, contentment, and ultimately happiness.
Positive affirmations can be used to improve self-esteem, promote change, increase drive, and curb negative self-talk.
When you incorporate positive affirmations into your daily life, through this repetition, you essentially rewire your thought processes. You are, in action, reinforcing the very truths of...YOU. Your capabilities. Your potential. Your strengths. Your qualities. Your worth.
Benefits of positive affirmations
When we repeat affirmations of positivity, we train our brains to react in a decreasingly defensive manner, and we teach ourselves discipline and focus. When incorporating affirmations into our daily life, we better prepare ourselves for difficulties that may come our way.

How to incorporate positive affirmations into your daily life
Author Sonja Lyubomirsky, in her book The How of Happiness, states that 40% of our happiness is completely and totally up to us. No outside factors, interventions, or situations. Just you...all YOU.
That’s a powerful thing knowing that you directly control your own happiness. So, let’s not continue to neglect that power.
There are many ways to incorporate affirmations into your daily life. I like to employ the same methods that I would use to promote memorization.
Say them to yourself aloud in the shower or in front of your mirror while getting ready in the morning,
Write them on notes and place them around your house for you to view throughout the day,
Repeat them in your head while driving to work, while going for a walk/run, or
write them down in a journal each morning and evening.
Carefully choose affirmations that directly resonate with you. Choose affirmations that point you to where you want to be, need to be, and can be.
